IEEE WEEK 2009 Coding Competition in collaboration will NUCES-ACM

RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Each team should consist of 2 participants.

2. Standard Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Programming Competition procedures and rules will be applicable during the competition.

3. The duration of the competition will be 5 hours. Each team will be given 7 problems and 1 PC.

4. All technical queries of the participants will be entertained during the practice session which will be held before the start of the main competition.

5. Participants are disallowed to bring any reference material/books and/or electronic devices (including PDAs and laptops) with them inside the competition venue.

6. Use of mobile phones inside the competition venue is prohibited.

7. Once the competition commences, any discussion between two different teams may result in their disqualification from the competition.

8. The competition organizers will provide teams with the problem set, papers and pens.

9. Microsoft Visual C++ and Java programming environments will be provided.

10. MSDN and Java Docs will be provided to each team. Use of Internet during the competition is not allowed.

11. Software PC^2 will be used for problem submission and evaluation.

12. The test cases on the judge’s side will not be the same as given with the problem.

13. Each rejected problem will add some penalty. The penalty added for a problem will be calculated as follows:

a. If the problem is rejected on first submission, then number of minutes from the start of competition to the submission of problem.

b. If the problem is rejected on nth submission, then number of minutes from the start of competition to the nth submission of problem plus 20 * (n-1).

c. The teams are ranked according to the number of problems solved. If two or more teams have solved equal number of problems then the one with the minimum penalty will be ranked higher.


14. Live results will be displayed inside the competition venue until the start of the last hour of the competition.

15. Decision of the competition judges shall be considered as final and unchallengeable.

16. NUCES-ACM reserve the right to change the above mentioned rules and regulations without prior notice.
